Free kitten in nj to good home only?

Maria

I have a tuxedo kitten very sweet yet shy, male I can no longer keep due to my alergies, I don't want to put him in a shelter I want a good home for him no fee

Answer
Have you tried a HEPA air filter, vaccuming daily and keeping the kitten out of your bedroom (keep the door closed & the kitten out) ? and allergy medication? Those things have let many people keep their pets.

If you have to rehome him, it's a very bad idea to give him away free to a stranger. There are people who pretend they want them as pets, but get them for some cruel reason. He could get sold to a lab or used for snake food, or just taken by some evil person to torture. There are other people who keep taking in free and stray pets and have way more than they can care for.

You should charge an adoption fee of at least 30 dollars to deter those people, they will go for the free or super cheap ones.Get at least the first set of shots, and treated for worms, preferably also neutered, and then you could charge a fee to recoup some of the vet bill, and provide the new owner with the vet record. (A responsible pet owner should not mind paying a fee for having those things done, since they would be going to have him vaccinated and neutered anyway.)

You could go on Petfinder, search for animal welfare groups in your area, find the groups with cats for adoption and ask if they could take the kitten and try to find him a home, they are more practiced at screening adopters.. Some rescue groups have kitten in foster homes.

Or if they can't take him in or you don't want to ask that, maybe they could just list the kitten on their website / Petfinder listings, but you could keep him until they do. It would help if you can take some cute photos of him and write a paragraph about him that they could post.

What is the average utility bill for NJ?

As a first-time homebuyer I'm trying to determine what the average utility bills per month would be? Looking for Water, Electricity, and Gas. The lot size is 50x100, it's 2 stories, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Hot water/baseboard heat. gas cook stove, ceiling fans and a/c units.

Answer
It all depends on how well insulated the home is. If the house does not have good insulation and it has baseboard heating, your gas bill will be outrageous during the winter months...I would look to pay anywhere between $75-$250 depending. Electric will be higher in the summer months if you use the A/C often, I would say approximately $120 or so, but in the winter it can range from as little as $35-$60 depending on how much energy you consume. Water bills come quarterly and are usually in the range of $80-$100 each time.

There are ways of limiting the cost of these bills by setting up budget plans with your utility companies. They usually work with you by looking at how much energy has been consumed there in the past and will base your budget accordingly. However, when you set up a budget if you are using more than they budgeted you, you will pay more and if you use less, they can adjust it that way too.
Hope that helps. Congrats on becoming a homeowner!
