Old hollywood themed bedroom?

Lalala

I decided I want my bedroom to be old Hollywood themed (think Marilyn Monroe). But I can't figure out what to do. I have a medium sized room in the shape of a square, yellow walls with white trimming, and antique cherrywood furniture. Any ideas on the colors, bed set, patterns, and decorations? Thanks!

Answer
Wall color- rose, pink or pale peach
Get a Hollywood bed (this is a legit type of bed! search it on Google to see pics)
Big vanity table with a lightbulb-trimmed mirror and a vintage chair of some sort..you might want to have a collection of crystal perfume bottles for the top :)
Chandelier
Satin bedding
Throw feather boas over things
Rotary phone
White faux fur rug
Framed black and white photos of Marilyn or Jean Harlow or whoever you want
Put on red lipstick and kiss a little lip print onto one of your mirrors (ps you should have lots of mirrors), I've done this in my room and it really looks fabulous

Have fun decorating. xxo

Set my sights on this lovely Maine Coon cat, but does a big cat like that need a big house?

I live in an 800 sq ft 2 bedroom apartment, and I know this type of cat gets rather large. I do not plan to let any cat I own outdoors, would this be a bad choice for an indoor cat in a small apartment?

Answer
No, there is no need to have a big house. I own a Maine Coon and he is incredibly sweet and low maintenance. Not all Maine Coons become larger than other cats. All they need is a comfy place to sleep and lots of love. As long as there is some type of exercise available you'll be fine. All it will need is a play mouse or a string to chase. This should not be a problem though because Maine Coons are naturally playful and energetic.

We are looking for ideas on how to set up the master bedroom without dressers or nightstands.?

Our new place has lots of closets and storage. We are thinking of not going with the norm of bedroom sets and do something different. Suggestions welcome!
We are also not planning on having a television in the room. Any other ideas?

Answer
I guess it would depend on how big the room is. If you're planning on buying a new bed you could up-size as long as it doesn't overpower the room. A chaise lounge would be really pretty and you could put a floor lamp next to it for reading. You might also consider a tall mirror - either one you can lean against a wall or a free-standing one. You don't want the room to look too plain so curtains would add some color. Are you putting a TV in the room? An armoire would look good and add some height to the room.

Describe your bedroom, your signs?

Mine's small, cozy and carpetted. I very much like it that way. I have a four-poster bed, long curtains only a few inches above the ground. I have a closet and cupboard which, together, span one entire wall of my room. I like having many fluffy pillows. My ceiling is white, my walls, pale sky blue, my curtains, light yellow-green. My carpet is of a dull green color. It's semi-traditional, semi-modern. The best of both worlds, lol. But then, I have a huge carton where I stuff all my novels, and another one for my textbooks. You'll find packets of candy here and there. Not exactly spic and span, but not that messy or disorganised. I'm thinking of getting a long sofa or armchair...hmmm...well, how about you guys? What about YOUR bedrooms?
As for myself, I'm a Virgo/Sagi/Aqua, who loves her quilt!
PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO MENTION YOUR SUN/MOON/ASCENDANT.
aww fire cat. maybe you should look for a nicer, brighter, cozier place to live in then. or is it cause of your job or something, that you tend to move a lot? maybe you should ask a cancer for help, then you'll find the perfect apartment to live in, where you can always be happy ;) oh, and try to get yourself a bed, at least!! you need some comfy piece of furniture, above the ground, to surrender to at the end of the day!!

Answer
My bedroom is pretty artistic looking. It has a lot of antiques inc. bed + set, chair and pots/perfume bottles. I have a lot of cool looking antique butterflies hanging all around my walls and a big painted one my aunt brought back from Mexico. I have a star lamp that hangs from a corner in my ceiling. A couple paintings of the goddess Persephone. I have a framed poster of a butterfly that reads, "Change is the essence of life, be willing to surrender what you are for what you could become." I have a stereo system in a corner with a chair where I do most of my writing for music..tons of notebooks full of songs. I have a small shelf with books on the art of tattoos, history of paintings, CSI, old saved up newspaper articles on historic events such as that from 9/11. I have a fairly large closet that is organized by color and type of shirt. My shoes are organized from heels to flats to shoes. My bedding is very "anthropologie" and I have 1950's pillows. And lastly...I know this is soo childish but I have a red velvet teddy bear who is the only male to sleep with me at night :)

I have a small bedroom...i Want to be able to relax and do my homework in....it needs to be very organzied....and i want a tropical feel

Answer
A big trick a lot of people over look when re-doing small rooms is the use of mirrors! Now Im NOT saying go and PUt floor to ceiling mirrors in your room, but when your in a small room, simply just adding a mirror to the wall makes the room feeling a lot More open.

So since you have a small room painting the walls a dark color would be a bad idea! Dark colors cause rooms to feel smaller and sometimes cramped! So for your room I would suggest a cream color or an off-white:

http://www.framingsupplies.com/images/Crescent/Misc/WhiteSampler.jpg

Any of those would work! The off white lets the room feel open, and also symbolizes the sand of a tropical Paradise!
If that's too boring and you want to get a little more interesting with the wall color go with a light or pastel blue:

http://www.bubblyfunk.co.uk/images/Cardstock%208x8%20Pastel%20Blue.JPG

This is a fun color, but still keeps the room feeling open!

Now since you want tropical, and you want a place to do your homework, a desk is essential! Having a wicker plain white desk Gives it that clean, organized feel, but still keeps the room fun and tropical:

Also a white wicker bed frame would be ideal to continue the look throughout the room. I don't know what size bed you have. Queen.? Twin? But as long as you understand the white wicker than that's fine:

This is a JcPenny Bed set! Well priced. Its comfortable well made and simple. So as you get older if you don't like tropical anymore you wont have to change your bed set you can just change the theme:

http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6E.aspx?GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=1649c84&DeptID=70750&CatID=77512&SO=0&x5view=1&Ne=4294957900+877+1031+1007+580+8+966+18+904+949+833&pagesize=1&shopperType=G&N=4294940584&Nao=0&PSO=0&CmCatId=70750|77512

I'm not sure weather you are a boy or a girl, but those bed sets have different colors. For the boys I would recommend the blue and brown one. The blue will go well with the wall. For the girls I would choose the yellow, pink, and orange one. IT would be fun and symbolize the sunset.

Since you don't have a lot of room in your room. I suggest adding a lot of wall decoration! One way to get GREAT wall decorations (And have a lot of fun doing it) Is for you and your boyfriend/girlfriend/friends/family to take a ton of pictures! I don't know about you, but I love taking pictures! Or you could get pictures you print off from online that have to do with the beach. Surfboards, sunsets, birds, etc. Then once all of your pictures are printed go and get frames for them! They don't have to be the same frame! Then get spray paint (the same white that is in your room) and spray paint all of the frames! Then put the pictures in the frame and hang them in a similar set up like this: (except with more pictures or course!)

http://www.manobluedesign.com/manoblueblog/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/picture-1.png

It will look really modern and cool! It also will be a lot of fun taking the pictures AND will add a personal touch to your room! Also when painting your room, have the doors and trim stay white. If you do choose the yellow comforter your walls can be the orange that matches your bed set.

If you want to add more fun stuff to your walls go and buy a stencil. For guys you could get a stencil of a surfboard that matches the color of your bed set! And for girls, you could get the stencil of a tropical flower! Pink maybe that matches yours! Also you said you wanted to feel relaxed. I quick and simple thing that could make your room feel relaxed is adding a simple water feature! :

Science themed bedroom?

Sophie

I am a 16 year old girl looking to decorate her room. I already know that I am getting a green, gray, white bedspread and am painting my walls gray. I have a large 4 foot by 3 foot whiteboard to do homework on. I just need some things to make it look more science-y. I was thinking maybe a molecule set or solar system model. My interests really lie in astronomy, physics and chemistry. Please nothing too tacky, but maybe some posters or wall graphics. Maybe even some models??

Answer
You can use science beakers for your pens and pencils. You could buy a periodic table shower curtain or curtain or just a chart for the wall. They had one on the Big Bang theory. A microscope. I had one from a science kit that was around 20 dollars when I was little and it comes with a lot of stuff check Walmart or science store. Put one or two hooks to hang science lab coat and apron. Put your desk in the middle of the room like a lab has them. Get a poster of Albert Einstein maybe Walmart has one.

EDIT:
I remember my cousin painted her ceiling black and they put glitter in the ceiling so when you looked at it it looks like stars and stuff.

Get a skeleton. I had a small one when I was younger. It was an anatomy game pretty cool. lol I was soooooooo into science and stuff.
