Can you use a feather bed as a Duvet if you get a duvet cover? Would it work?

Answer
It might. You can try getting some baby safety pins or large safety pins. You turn the duvet inside out and lay it on top. Then you pin it onto the feather bed and slowly trun it rite side out. You kind of have to get into it to do this. You want to get a duvet cover that has a large opening at the bottom. That is the whole bottom is open with buttons or something. There are even duvet clips. They are metal clips covered in soft foam. They work best. You might also try seweing grosgrain ribbions to the feather bed. The problem you are going to have with this conversion is that if you are using a queen feather bead on a queen bed it will be shorter than the bed and duvet cover most likely. You may have to go down a duvet size or make your own using sheets or fabric. Remember you can usually return things, so you can try and find out. Also many duvet covers are already made of sheets so it is not a big deal if you have to make one. You will just have to rely on some blankets underneath and that will be a top quilt. I think it is a good idea especially if it is not working for you as a feather bed. You might as well recycle it.

Go ahead and measure your feather bed and then take the dimensions to the store. Linens in things has those duvet clips. Return the whole set if you do not like it and do not get one of those horrible duvet covers I got the 1st time with one little hole to stuff the whole thing through. That is a nightmare. I have found wonderfull duvet covers that work from llbean. They have cotton in all colors and they have flannel. They have such a wide varitey of prints.

The dude above will feel pretty silly when he wrongly corrected you. He is the wrong one. He is speaking of a bidet

where can I find bedding for a 20 somthing couple?

Tracy

My boyfriend and I (25 and 24, respectively) are getting our first apartment together. I looked up some really streamlined/classy marvel comics art and told him he could have the living room as his gaming space/man cave if I could have the bedroom and bathroom to design as I wish. While I find it would be easy to go with some soft pastels/florals, I really don't see him waking up to that. My biggest problem is finding a cheap, quality comforter/duvet cover. So far I've tried
urban outfitters
anthropologie
wayfair
jcpenny
macys
target
west elm
blisslivine home
allmodern
etc.

Where can I find quality for cheap?

Answer
If they have them in your area, check out the home goods department of the Ross Dress for Less stores. Most people think of them as just clothes but they have terrific deals on quality linens in their home decor area. I bought a gorgeous 400 count cotton steel blue and light brown damask design duvet cover and matching shams there last year for $25 ($15 for the cover and $5 each for the shams). The original prices were $160 for the cover and $30 each for the shams.

Have also picked up a teal blue 100% silk quilted queen sized spread there for $30. I have bought Ralph Lauren, Laura Ashley and Tommy Hilfiger sheets for less than $30 a set and countless beautiful throw pillows (some down filled and hand-embroidered) that were $10 to $15 each. They also have drapes, drapery hardware, small furnishings (upholstered benches, night stands, small cabinets), lamps, framed art, mirrors and small area rugs. Obviously, the selection varies so you have to have patience and check their inventory regularly, but the prices are terrific for quality goods.

Also check out The Company Store, who may have the widest range of quality linens. They are not cheap but sometimes they have good deals in their clearance section. They have beautiful and classy designs that appeal to guys as well as women.

L.L. Bean has nice bedding but the designs are not particularly exciting.
