My bedroom set is all black and i wanna know.....?

Q. I wanna know what bright maybe even fun colors I can use for my bed set and lamps and rug and stuff like that. I am married too just to keep that in mind but he doesn't really care what I do as long as I'm happy. So 10 points for the best answer :-)

Answer
I saw an awesome look on Nate Burkus the other night. The set was all black like yours and he added Grey and White with splashes of really bright yellow here and there.
It was like a grey spread with a black bold border, matching shams and then a bright yellow toss pillow in the middle and a yellow throw at the end..

But he stuck with just that colour block and it looked so cozy and fun.

Pale yellow walls in bedroom, what color bedding and accents?

Lauren

I've decided to paint my bedroom a pale yellow color. Now I need to decide on what color bedding to get and what color to paint the trim, shelves and window treatments. My carpeting is a dark gray short shag with black in it and my entertainment center is a black wood with copper in it. What do you think will look good with yellow walls or if you don't think yellow will work what other color do you think would you choose for walls. Best answer awarded.

thanks!
My comforter would most likely be a solid accent color since i use a duvet cover as a comforter.

Answer
Yellow is a great color with grey and black although I think you are putting the proverbial cart before the horse. Look for your bedding. This way you can make a choice in line with it.

There is a different set of choices if you select this bedding http://www.home-decorating-co.com/kahula-hawaiian-bedding.html or this http://www.home-decorating-co.com/victor-mill-coos-bay-bedding.html or this http://www.blisslivinghome.com/anis-p-1490.html

Work inside out...find bedding that really appeals to you then choose your wall color. It's far easier when you have a neutral gray/black palette.

In the end you may find a set you really love that has nothing to do with yellow http://www.luxuryspreads.com/bedding-detail.asp?Vid=B&style_id=Ena#

Master Bedroom Comforter set?

I

Hey guys!
My mom is going to try to surprise my dad with a house makeover type thing when he comes home from Iraq, and one thing she's really having trouble with is master bedroom. The comforter set in particular...I was wondering if you could POST A LINK for some comforters, thanks so much! Sorry you have to post a link, but she knows exactly what she wants she just can't find the right one and I want to help! Thanks!

Light Blue, Sage Green, Yellow, maybe a little bit of tan.
We are going to paint the walls sage, so if you think something else might look good with that?
She doesn't want anything really modern or contemporary, something kind of fancy (not toooo fancy though haha) with like a smaller design, not like big flowers or anything.
AND NO STRIPES OR DOTS! thats her least favorite. haha

thank you so much!!!!

I am buying a house soon and I want wall colors that are comfortable. I have dark chocolate bedroom set and same in my living room.
I want a good color for my kitchen and dining room. Should they match?
I just want something other thatn white.
Thank you for all your inputs. :)

Answer
Because you have darker color furniture I would go with some warmer colors for your rooms. I painted my kitchen a very light yellow Devoe paint and the painted the ceiling a lighter shade which was called Heritage Ivory. It is a lighter yellow than the walls, but it brightens up my kitchen and everyone compliments the ceiling paint. In my dining room I painted a sky blue with white trim. My living roon is a moss green which is a very popular color. It is also light but very warm. My colors all go togerther. You could do a red in your dining room if you want a more dramatic effect, which would go with your brown furniture nicely.
Your bedroom I think you can do any color you want. There are so many different greens that are so beautiful.
My advise would be to go to the paint store and get tons of color swatches. What a color looks like in the store looks so much different outside or at your house. Usually we tend to think we need the darker colors, but they usually end up being a mistake. The people at the store can give you good advise. You might want to ask them what the most popular colors right now are. I did not take this man's advice once about a yellow and i went home and found that it was the most hidious color ever. Ha.
You can also buy a pint of different colors you like and then paint about a 16x20 square on one of your walls in the room you are considering it for and then on another wall in the same room use another one of your sample paints and then just look at it for a few days to decide. Ask family and friends too.
It is so much fun once you get started.
Sherwin Williams or Devoe paints you can't go wrong with. If you go with a cheaper brand you sometimes have to use 3 coats which is way to much work. I would also choose a satin finish which is more expensive, but beautiful. The colors will look the best if they compliment each other so that they flow well together.
Good luck!!

How do I paint over white washed pine (oil base) ?

tcgarner1

My daughters white washed pine bedroom set is yellowing just in different spots. I just want to paint it solid white, like you see a lot of children's furniture. I want to avoid having to strip it. Can I just spray primer (we have a paint sprayer) and then spray the white. Thank you

Answer
Absolutely. Use a quality primer. Either oil based or latex can be used over oil based white wash.

Oil based paint will be the most durable, 100% acrylic (latex paint) will be a close second. Choose the paint based on the primer. (Rule of thumb, latex primer needs latex paint, anything else can go over anything else)

I have a plaid comforter with like pinks, yellows, and browns. It looks like its from a country cottage. I think I am going to paint my walls light yellow and brown. What bedroom set would look good with it? Check HOM furniture, Slumberland, or Ashley Furniture. What are some other cute touches I could put in my room?

Answer
Hi, try this. Go into Google or Yahoo image search. Key in country cottage bedroom or bedroom designs or whatever you think best describes the item you're looking for. Voila, you now have thousands of photographs to choose from. Also, try a site called glidden.com, it allows you to paint a room and see what it looks like, really cool! Most images link to a website for more information.

What color should I paint my bedroom wall?

woohoo

I have a light cherry bedroom set. The comforter has a garnet base with golds and darker reds. I have wood floors. And my wall decor is mostly reds and golds as well. Right now I have a marigold yellow color but I'm starting to realize that was the wrong choice! What would better suit this room and make it more calmer?

Answer
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to help you imagine how the colors will look together. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:
http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/

I think "threshold taupe" (# 7501) might be a good choice.

You can take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:
http://www.roomvues.com/
You can get color suggestions & for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
