Basement Bedroom Decor.?

Kate

I have a Bedroom in the basement down at my dad's and it is kinda "Blah" and i wanna make it more relax instead of just white walls and the paint they have up now is peeling off the wall. Is there a special type of pain i need to get to cover the cement brick walls? What colors should i do, im not into light colors but i like vibrant colors. I have a cherry queen set bedroom suit down there now and i want that to go with the theme/decor of the room too. Im also into the black and white photos in the frames with the overhead light on them. I don't have a big budget to do this room on so nothing to pricey please

Thank you,
Kate

Answer
First you have use a scraper and wire brush to remove the old flaking paint, then wash the walls with a scrub brush using ammonia and a squeeze of dishsoap in a bucket of water. (tsp-tri sodium phosphate works best but ammonia/dish soap works great and saves you some money)
You have to use a primer/sealer before you paint, the best primer for brick
aaaww sorry...reading thru your questions I see you never pick an answer

ps. DO NOT use exterior paint indoors

I need ideas for a teenage girl's room...?

B

I'm seventeen and I need ideas to redo my room that will last me until I leave for college...
I HAVE to keep my dark cherry furniture (http://www.use.com/images/s_2/Queen_Bedroom_Set_Laurelle_Dark_Cherry_4b2c8e0966211eb08c7f_1.jpg) and I want the room to be vintage chic

Answer
I would go with a black, red, and white vintage french theme. That way the color of the furniture can still stay and it would look amazing, plus grown. Of, you would always paint the furniture.. just saying.

Kate-Ann

My boyfriend is moving and he wants a full sized bed or a queen sized bed.We live in Chicago.

Answer
Craigslist.com
http://chicago.craigslist.org/

Then choose furniture.

Type what your looking for into the search box and there ya go.

You will find local people in your area selling new and used beds.

I found 7 pages of 'full beds' for Chicago...

What is a good gift for my wife for our 4th wedding anniversary?

mik_sull

Answer
You are by far a very caring man for your wife. Now, listen t this, here is what you do! First, awaken her to a breakfast in bed before work or depending on you guys schedule, try leaving a note on her pillow to wake up to made by yours truly. Then send her off to work and get busy setting up for a bangin evening in. start by preparing her favorite meal with a decadent dessert, made or store brought dressed up with whipped cream topped with a cherry or strawberry.(for later)Order rose petals from your florist the day before to ensure freshness. enough to throw overthe bed to make love on and to scatter across the floor as she opens the door froma long hard day at work. Let them trail to your tub for her relaxation sponge bath her. wrap a robe around her after the bath lead her to the dinner table for all of her favorites, and good conversation. then carry her to the bedroom that you have so tastfully decorated with burning candles and some marvin gaye or Luther her favorite prefably, slow dance and whisper sweet nothings in her ears while making her feel like she is the queen of england with your soft touches and kisses. then take to the bed or the floor if it gets to hot and make love to your wife like no other. Then if you have the energy when it is over enjoy that decadent dessert if you have not already. She will remember it for the rest of her life, guaranteed. You can add and delete this is just a mind starter. Good Luck, and congratulations.

Our queen mattress is dying. Every morning I wake up with my back killing me. (Cont.)?

queen cherry bedroom set image

Siobhan W.

Do you have any recommendations for a new brand? We currently have a pillowtop. Sleep Number mattresses are too expensive.

Answer
I purchased a bedroom set just over 2 years ago. Furniture and all. It was my first...am so pleased with it even after 2 years. Solid cherry with silver handles...it's beautiful. Now, on to the bedding...

I have 2-3 levels in my lower back and 3 levels in my neck that have irrepairable damage that is causing spinal stenosis. In a nutshell, I deal with quite a bit of pain. When it came to looking for a new bed, I tested a number of different mattresses.

The sleep number beds were of no real use to me. I like having a big bed all to myself, since I'm single, and having the 2-chamber design was no good. Plus I felt they were too expensive for what they are.

The TempurPedic bed was amazing, yet I felt it was a little too "smooshy" for my back. I like having a soft surface yet solid support. I would recommend that bed if you're looking for the latest and greatest as well as something that will last for a long time, but if cost is a concern, read on...

I did test out some Sertas and other major brands carried at a local mattress warehouse but when it came right down to it I found that the Simmons Beautyrest was the absolute best!

My mattress, a Beautyrest, has a 4-5" pillowtop on it, which makes for a soft surface, yet the mattress itself is pretty darn solid. It's the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. Plus it's design, a one-sided pillowtop that NEVER needs flipped, was a major plus. The lifespan of this mattress is rated at 20+ years.

In the 2 years I've owned it...no signs of wear whatsoever. It stills sleeps as good as the day I purchased it!

Good luck and happy bed-hunting!
