I have been interested in a white bedroom set, but everyone seem to expect me to want a wood one (eg: cherry, maple, oak.). I'm 14, is a white bedroom set truly to childish for me?

Not really, you are still pretty young after all but a white bedroom set isn't exactly childish anyway. I know some people in their mid 20's that have white bedroom sets just because that happens to be what they like. One girl I know, almost all of the furniture in her apartment is white or some kind of off white color. If you like it then don't worry about what other people think about it.

What kind of paintings for bedroom with simple traditional furniture in light oak?

The bedroom set is plain, but has a traditional oak feel and tri=fold mirror.
Any ideas for an imagery theme, other than roses/flowers?
My man has no particular ideas for this room, so I don't have much input there...

A collection of family photographs in ornate oak frames might be nice. Children's artwork can also be framed to add a happy feeling to the room. You can frame just about anything. Frame several pieces of color coordinating fabric and hang in a cluster on the wall. Go to a flea market to scout for old picture frames of various sizes and hang in a group, one inside of the other. Or, take one large frame and hang on the wall. Paint your own picture directly on the wall inside the frame. Check out this web site for more bedroom ideas.

Do chocolate brown and dark cherry oak go together?

We have a cherry oak bedroom set and I want to paint our walls chocolate brown with an off white trim. Would that clash?

This sounds way too dark to me. I think if the chocolate has enough red it in it will be fine...but unless everything else (and even then) in the room is blindingly white, this will be waaaayyyyy to dark for a bedroom. You don't want to create a "cave".
Now I nice light chocolate milk color, that might be fine...just be sure it has a tiny hint of rosiness to tie in the cherrywood.

Need some easy decorating ideas for a Master Bedroom?

We have an older four poster oak bedroom set-its sturdy and well made and I just cant bring myself to get rid of it. I would really love to spice up my bedroom decor but cant figure out what would go well with the brown oak "country style" bedroom set. Im more into a contemporary or eclectic look now and I need help with some options...thanks.

I had a Lane bedroom set. It was solid oak and gorgeous. It had a canopy bed, triple dresser, armoire and two nightstands. I had that set for at least 30 years and it looked like new.

But times and tastes change and I wanted something more modern or at least "different".

Trust me, nothing you do to that "country style" set is going to satisfy you if your taste has changed. Bite the bullet and let it go. I sold my old set reasonably to someone that loved it as much as I did when it was new so I knew it went to a good home.

I then bought a new set that is just what I wanted at this point in my life. I don't go for the "sturdy, well made" (translated "really expensive") stuff anymore (I'm not talking about buying junk either, I got my new set at Ashley) because then you have it forever and get tired of it. If you take good care of whatever you buy it will last you for as long as you love it. Then, when you don't "love it" anymore you won't feel so bad to let it go.

Life is short, you deserve to have what makes you happy today!!

Edited: I work for a store that sells furniture wholesale and I update their catalogs. Believe me when I tell you that if you paint the "country" furniture black, it's going to look like black "country" furniture (I see hundreds of sets of black "country" furniture). Country is country is country. If you try to put modern stuff in, on and around your "country" stuff, it's going to scream "she's trying not to look country, but it's country with modern stuff". It won't go. I had country decorating in my home. My husband bought me a baby grand piano. When they bought it in and set it down amidst my "country" stuff, you could almost hear the piano saying "What's all this stuff?" I had to change my decor to go with the piano (much more sophistocated victorian). Modern stuff has clean lines and there is no way to make country stuff look modern.

I'll say it again, life is short, get what you really want and enjoy it.

What color should I paint my bedroom?

It will have very light taupe (cashew) berber carpet, antiqued oak laminate bedroom set, quite light, I put on silver knobs as I like modern very much. I have a neutral comfortor which I would like to get rid of. I really like this light green, but don't know if it will match, and what other colors would go with it. Please help.

I love that new kind of like a sea foam or mint with dark brown. That is what I want to paint my room at least. I would go with maybe a taupe a couple of shades darker than your carpet that way you can get a neutral bed set and add color with throw pillows. Much cheaper to change pillows than room color.
