What rules are there when redecorating a bedroom?
stacies mo
I am 23 year old redecorating my bedroom. And I've been buying things here and there that I want in my room.
This is the bed set I've gotten:

I have brown furniture (with the exception of my white bookcase, though this MIGHT change) The doors in my bedroom (and their borders) are white.
I was thinking of brown, blue, and white for the room. Blue=walls, brown=miscellaneous wall/room decorations.
The theme I would want is vines/vintage. Sort of like the bed set.
So, what color should my walls be and what do you guys think of the color combo I have in mind?
I would want to add hooks like these to wall:

I love it! You found a very pretty bed set, and you can match the paint to that color blue and it will be a comfortable and restful room to be in. The rule is to make the person who sleeps there happy, so it all goes back to you anyway. If the color makes you feel the way you want to feel, then it is perfect. A cool color like blue and the warmth of the brown furniture together contrast nicely and work very well together. Those are also some beautiful hooks. I liked them all, but the tree branch ones give you an opportunity to paint some brown on the wall to expand the branches into a whole tree! You might go so far as to add names on the branches to represent your family tree, but that is a large project all by itself!
If you are the type that likes wide open spaces then a bright tone of blue will work great and a darker color would make the room feel too small. You don't have to match the brightness of the bedspread; it should look good even if the walls are a bit brighter or darker. Some people would prefer that the bed stand apart from the wall rather than blend in. This won't be a problem for you either way since the wall will be a solid color and the bedspread isn't.
The paint will look too light or bright when it is first applied, but wet paint always looks different, and then there is that fact that you are painting over white, so you may need at least 3 coats before the paint looks like the bedspread.
