Decorating A teen bedroom?

Sarah M

Hey I wanna know what I can decorate my new room at my new house with. I basically have the cellar to myself which is my room which is pretty good sized. And two other small rooms. Plus a closet. I was thinking of making one room into a movie room and make it completly dark and putting the T.V with all the DVDs and stuff in there and then have pictures of like Merilyn Monroe/James Dean/Star Wars/ random movie photos on the wall to set the scene. Then the other small room is going to be a small bathroom that I dont know how to decorate yet. Then my room will just have my bed and books the small computer dest and a make-up birrow and dresser. There will be alot of wall space so how can I decorate? ANy of the rooms? I want some fun ideas to make my room unique like the picture buliten board and picture clothes line and glow in the dark start. What other accesories can I put in it? I'm a teenage girl...more details below
I can be really preppy and girly sand I love shopping all the time. But I'm also verry guy-ish and I sometimes just like to hang out and be alone. I love my privacy. I like to read. I <3 my friends and family and memories. I love nature it makes me happy. Cool lights are fun. I like to have things verry dark. I love music, all types from Eminem to Billy Joel to Taylor Swift and Alanis Morissette and the Corrs. Every type of music I love. Especially old music. I love dance and basketball. I dont want a single theme for my room. I was thinking of painting the walls green pink and blue really bright. What else could I put? I also love art and anime. I enjoy playing video games and being outside. I shop at hollister and TJ max. lol I have a really strange outgoing personality and am really loud around people. Not shy at all What are some fun ways I can decorate any of the 3 rooms?

My dad bought me a standard size sheet of plywood, 4 x 8', I think, and glued cork board onto it. Then attached the plywood to the wall. It was great. I could change my posters and other items as often as I wanted with push pins.
This was just basic cork. You can go wild and have the plywood cut to a name or design. Also you could wrap the cork squares in fabric or paint them.

Later I lived in a room I couldn't paint, so I used curtains. Ikea has Dignitet curtain wire & ring clips. The wire is about 16 feet long. You could use flat sheets, light weight curtains or shower curtains.
The fabric can be a divider in your room, along a wall for a color difference that week or you can put up a nature poster and frame it with the curtain. Kind of like you're looking outside.

There are many different styles of LED rope lights. They're energy efficient and are cool to the touch. They can highlight shelves, closets, or even nature posters. You could put them low on the wall in your "movie" room to guide your walking.

You should get a basket ball hoop with a wooden backboard. Paint it purple or blue and put it over your clothes hamper. You should have 2 clothes hampers, one for regular clothes and one for delicate items.

Buy a bunch of frames in the same color all black or all gold then bunch your frames on one wall as a feature.

If you collect items, put them together in one area. If you spread them throughout your room, it would look "busy."

As for the bathroom, I would recommend that you paint the wall in front of the toilet your favorite color. The other 3 walls could be the same or a complementary color. Go to department stores and find a colorful shower curtain that you like and design your bathroom around the curtain (& accessories).

Help me redo my bedroom?

I really want to make my room more cozy(: I am NOT HIPSTER but I do like those types of bedrooms because they seem so, well.. cozy! (: My room right now is dark purple and my bedroom set is kind of vintage (it was my grandmas) so any ideas?

Answer
This is a step - by - step guide to help you make your bedroom feel and look warm and cozy.

1. Paint your room. Buy some paint for the room, for example a deep red, chocolate, creams or a beige colour. Basically, the dark colours usually give any room a cozy feeling. And here dark does not have to mean dull.

2. Change the Furniture. Invest in some beanbags, sofa's and other furniture to give it a cozy and welcoming feeling. Or if you feel like it, decorate a small corner in your room and fill it with clean cushions and blankets.

3. Add a comfy bed with sheets that match your paint. Your sheets can be solid white, which will make the room a little more airy. Use pillows at your own discretion! Too many pillows may make the room seem cluttered or childish-- not cozy.

4. Fill it with personality, as in things you like and are personal to you. This will make your room seem friendlier and more welcome. It can be your favourite book, paintings, photos of family and friends.Posters are brilliant to spread on your walls, but give the room a more funky appearance, which may not appear welcoming.

5. Accessorize the room. Add in necessities such as curtains and storage (ottomans are brilliant- they provide storage for random items, can be used as seating, and have a homey feel).

6. Invest in some nice lighting. This does wonders to your room... especially if it is small. You could hang up some nice icicle lights, to give your room a sparkle. A mirror, lighted or not, makes a room seem larger.
