I am going to be purchasing a mobile home and will be renting out 1 or 2 rooms once I am in there and situated first. My dilemma is this: I usually do not attach my self to furniture of things. That is not me or my style of image etc. I am very basic and casual. However... that being said, about 10 or 11 years ago I had a car accident and received a small settlement. I was then able to purchase a used car I really loved a dodge and this expensive for me Queen size bed. It was a dream bed to me. One you see in magazines in those fancy homes. Victorian solid wood..French Provencal I think it may even be called. It has a huge upper fancy wood head board and a large foot board with dips in the wood and even a thick wooden frame around the whole bed. It looks like something Queen Anne might sleep in. It has a semi distressed look in some areas and a sleek mat silk cream finish to it. It is accented with some lighter brown in toning the areas to pronounce them. I just am in love with this bed. However: Realistically my life right now is changing and although I won't be living in the state I am moving to for more then a few years the most, it is where I have a close friend whom she and her family are like my step family and always have been.

I don't know if this bed like where I live now will consume the whole room for the most part with little floor area..Or if I will rent out both bedrooms in which then the people will most likely bring their own beds/ furniture for the rooms. I realistically would be best off buying a Futon with a good quality mattress later on. They deliver them and I think they come in all sizes and mattress thickness's as well. I can IF renting both rooms use this as a couch in the living room and then my bed at night.

My friend asked me if I would consider selling it. I purchased it for $3,000 .00 and it looks antique. Its gorgeous! But.. sadly in today's economy people don't have this or even half and want a deal.
I sold my mothers fabricated bedroom set dirt cheap because I need to money. But.. it was not any where near this quality of mine. I told my friend it is hard to part with this bed and I don't know whom the manufacturer is even. My friend was trying to reason with me in a logical way that it is not as though I will never find something similar one day when I purchase a home, which I plan on. But for now.. it may not be realistic when I need the money more then the bed. She said to take my mattress but leave the bed. Or .. I can even leave that.. and buy an air mattress then the Futon when I arrive.

Please convince me kindly about what to do. I know women answering this will get it and understand. Men not so much. LOL.

I would say that you should consider selling the bed you have in your room and go for the new mattress.

Rent in Seattle with bad credit?

Does anyone know of any people/places that will let you rent if you have bad credit? I know some places just charge extra and months up front, I just don't know where in Washington they are.

Money is not a issue.. We pay $1550 a month here! $100 short of my friends mortgage on their HOUSE. So I was just wondering if anyone in the same situation had any advice or tips.

I am hoping for at least a 3 bedroom, prefer 2 baths.. It does not matter if it is apartment, house or condo.. just no a trailer. We do have a little one that will start school next year and 2 others about to start college so needs to be in a safe neighborhood (although the entire NW coast is relatively safe compared to where we are now) Anyone have any ideas or suggestions??

For a nice neighborhood in Seattle - Ballard, Queen Anne etc. in a decent place as described by you then 1550 may be around what you will be paying possibly more. I paid for 2 bedroom apt 1250 in queen Anne. There are some rarities that may have a 3 bedroom apt but they are rare or old. You could look into townhouses but their rent will be close to 2000 a month in a nice neighborhood. I would look at www.nwsource.com and check out the adds. Also look at craigs list. they are free to list so lots more hits.

Living in Seattle this summer starting in May?

I posted a question before asking how about I should go to finding a short term location in Seattle this summer, and now I know it is going to be from May15th to about August 15th. The company I will be interning for said I will be in Renton or Bellevue, but I will not know until early April. So now to the question.

I was wondering how I should go about searching for an apartment/studio/roomate whatever for that time frame?

I would like to live in "central" Seattle (Capitol Hill, Queen Anne area ish) or the U District maybe, or if I am in Bellevue I wouldnt mind living there because I have quite a few friends whose families live there. I am looking to spend about 750 a month on rent/utilities/ect. I have looked at some stuff on craigslist that does not work out with my timing, but I believe it is possible. Any advise would be extremely helpful, thanks people.

Plus the long ass commute. I live in the Central District and go to school in Auburn, not far from Renton and I am about to switch colleges because the commute it too long. I hope you have a car because if you go on a bus plan 6 hours of transportation. By car maybe 1.5-2 each day give and take the traffic.

Bellevue is even worse. Also my rent for a basic nothing special unit is $1200 granted you could find one for $900. In Kent or Renton you could pay $725 for a two bedroom as thats what my b.f pays and they have a swimming pool, tanning room, gym, ect something you won't get in Seattle.

They offer specials in the Renton/Kent area offering reduce rent or even free and most you can me in on the day or the next. For our first apartment last year is was free rent for 3 months and only a $200 deposit and move in the same day.

how is magnolia neighborhood in seattle?

I might be moving there soon and wanted to know what it is like. I know south seattle isn't good, but how about magnolia. Queen anne and fremont is awesome, but what about in between at magnolia? thanks

I've worked in Magnolia for 3 years and I really enjoy it. The neighborhoods are nice and quiet, there is alot of pride in ownership, ALMOST all of the people are kind and friendly. There are however, the few that think they are the Seattle Elite because they live in Magnolia. Magnolia almost feels like it's own little town, it's large and far enough out of downtown that "city living" isn't how I would refer to shacking up here. Many of the people I know from work, and have met through work, have lived in Magnolia their entire lives. That results in alot of local drama. The bus lines in Magnolia suck. There are 3, and they only go by about every half hour. If you find a job downtown, bussing is often the most practical solution...so please keep that in mind. Rent in Magnolia tends to get pretty pricey, my friend lives in a tiny 1 bedroom apartment she pays $850 a month for, and it's not exactly new or nice. There are also many older people and families, so if you tend to be a party animal, be aware that your neighbors probably won't like you so much.

I'm very sorry to hear about your mother. If she's been sick a long time, you may feel like rushing through these kinds of decisions in an attempt to move on ... resist the urge. My aunts did this after my grandmother died and then regretted so many decisions they made in the moment. Respect the fact that you are grieving and that you have more than enough time to handle this choice when you're ready.

Personally, if you really like the bed, I would keep it. It would cost less than a new futon to have someone else move it. There's a website called uShip where truckers will haul extra goods for people for a savings when the routes are convenient. This will be something you can always come home to and enjoy at the end of a long day. That's worth more than anything.
