I have a 3 bedroom apartment...twins coming soon!?

D

I have my kitty litter box in my soon to be twins room walk in closet. I don't want it in there once my babies come. I have a very open 3 bedroom apartment, mine and my husbands room and my 2 daughters room, and the other is set aside from twins. No closets anywhere but the bedrooms, so my question is...Where the hell do I put my kitty litter box?!?
LOL...a 4th room?...they are spoiled...it's a thought

Answer
There are a number of enclosures made for litter boxes, and I have provided a link of several types. The second link shows some more examples.

One caution in moving the location. Some cats get upset, so if you could provide a temporary litter box in the old location while you get your cat used to the new location, that might be a good idea.

Comcast HD DVR Box?

Hoptoad Ci

Arrghh! I hate Comcast! We just set up a new HD tv in our house (our second one), got a new box (actually 3, the first 2 didn't work) and finally got the HD working. Now the time does not show up on the new box or our existing HD DVR box for our existing TV. It worked before, and when asked, comcast says, "it should show up on it's own." I just need to get the time back on the box. What do I do? Comcast customer support is useless as usual. We have Motorola HD DVR boxes.

Answer
You need to go into the menu and set up to show time. I have the box in the living room set to show the time but, not the one in the bedroom because I don't want to know the time in the middle of the night.Go to menu then choose cable box set up.It will say Front LED Display.

How much does it cost to ship apartment furniture across country by rail?

Looking to ship a bedroom set, coffee table, entertainment stand and a few small boxes across the country from PA to CA. Truck rentals are north of $1500, companies like PODS and so on are way too expensive. I am curious as to how much it could cost shipping via rail instead. Can't really find too much on pricing.

Answer
The days when the railroads shipped small lots (called LCL=less than carload) ended by 1960. Most freight now is carried in multiple car lots under contract. The charges for a single sixty-foot long box car would undoubtedly be more than truck rate and you would have to find a rail siding at origin and destination that would allow loading and unloading for a one-time shipper. Your best bet, outside moving companies, is to look at containers. Contact local freight forwarders and check on rates for renting and shipping a container. Best bet might be to contact PODS (see info below under What's your source?) which provides smaller containers and will also store them until you are ready to unload. They are also used to dealing with domestic consumers on single shipments, while a lot of freight forwarders are business oriented and won't do much to get a one-time shipment. While you may think companies rates are expensive, consider their equipment, fuel, labor and insurance costs. Unless you can find an independent trucker (gypsy) who has already made his money hauling a load from CA to PA and is back-hauling your load to avoid returning empty and therefore willing to give you a cheap price, you will probably not find a bargain rate. Consider selling or donating the furniture locally and replacing it at your new locale, and shipping the few boxes by US Postal Service (before their rates go up to UPS/Fedex levels or they go broke).

How much do you pay for storage? Where?

I have: a bedroom set, lots of boxes of clothes, living room furiture, two tv's, dinning room set, kitchen table, pots and pans galore and an office to pack up for about 6 months.

Suggestions?

My style is traditional. I want a medium cherry. I like panel beds, not sleigh beds. But most panel beds are boring... need something with a little bit of curve on sides, not just a big box look. I have looked EVERYWHERE on line and just can't find a bed & bedroom set I like. HELP!! We are willing to spend a decent amount of money for something we are going to love for years.

Answer
Cherry furniture custom
I can see why you have been having an impossible time finding quality solid Cherry furniture. 99.99% of cherry furniture is a combination of Hardwood and hardwood veneer over particleboard with a Cherry finish. Import is the name of the game no matter who the maker is. There is virtually no large scale furniture manufacturing in America today. One option is custom furniture offered by small craft shops in the mid west. Often Amish or Mennonite shops make very fine furniture in your choice of woods. We have Amish craftsman that can offer Solid cherry with impeccable quality. One group being manufactured for www.barnfurnituremart.com has the curved lines you spoke of that we stock in Quarter Sawn White Oak. These pieces can be made in Solid Cherry to your size specifications and in any piece either bedroom, dining room, or any other piece you would like. The link shows this group with Mission Style handles in Oak; however, we added the Mission handles and changed the wood to turn it into Mission. We can easily use any other styles of hardware.
It is always best to start with one small piece to get an idea of the quality of the shop and you should beware of Amish makers who are Amish furniture brokers. Their prices are higher and sometime the quality is not as good.
We have many customers that fly in to visit our store which has been in the same location for 65 years.

How does walmart ship bedroom sets?

Curious

I want to buy a bedroom set off of walmart and get it shipped to their store to pick it up now I was just wondering how is it shipped? is it all in pieces, are the boxes really big or how does it work? thank you.

Answer
Usually in pieces, and you have to assemble them yourself. But it comes with instructions, don't worry :) Make sure you use a car with enough room to get it home
