Good real wood furniture?

Maria L

Im looking for bedroom sets out of real wood, not like that cheep wood shavings a lot of stores use.

I live in lower NY. I've been to Raymoore and Bob's and some other stores.

Does anyone know any stores that have very good quaity furniture?

Thanks!

Answer
For bedroom furniture the best in the business contact a manufacturer called Furniture Traditions. http://www.furnituretradtions.net I am also a big fan of Oakwood Interiors and Cochrine. Any of these companies can can then refer you to your local retailer.

Master Bedroom makeover help!?

Yolanda V

We have a very large 16x19 master bedroom. It has cheap 4-year-old beige and boring carpet and a bit darker beige walls. We have a very nice and contemporary bedroom set in a dark chocolate color. Thatâs pretty much it. We are trying to figure out what would make the biggest impact⦠Spend most of our money in very nice wood/laminate flooring, and a few touches of design like wall art, lamps and new bed covers; OR save the money from the wood/laminate floors and buy more furniture, wall mart, a large TV for the wall, better bed covers, etc.

Iâm thinking that if we skip the wood/laminate floors that the boring carpet will always be an eye sore⦠BUT going with the wood/laminate flooring will pretty much max out our budget for the makeoverâ¦

What would you do?

Answer
Actually, you may have hardwood already! Check under the carpet, in some homes people are surprised to find it under old, icky carpeting. hehe If that's the case, a simple sand and refinish job might get you in working order real quick!

If you're on a budget, then I think laminate is definitely the ticket. These days you can get them in such nice styles that you'll barely notice it's not wood. When you're picking one out, make sure that it's a neutral enough color to go with multiple wall colors / furniture colors in case you do buy that stuff later one. Also, make sure you don't skimp on the pad since that makes quite a bit of difference underfoot.

You can also save quite a bit by doing the install yourselves. Laminate isn't as hard as you would think, granted you have the right tools. If you're pretty handy or have a family or friends that are and can help, you can save lots on labor costs. That way, you can have the best of both worlds.

That's what I would do personally, if I were in your shoes :) Hope it helps, and best of luck!
