I want to be within 10 minutes of downtown by public transit. Rents for a studio or 1 bedroom should be from $800 to $1,200. It should be safe and have a major grocery store nearby. Do you think Queen Anne is the best choice? I'm a 33 year single straight male by the way.
Answer
Finding a place on Queen Anne in your price range might be a little difficult, but it would be a great area otherwise. If you are willing to commute a little farther, there are a number of apartments in Ballard, Fremont, and Wallingford as well as close to Green Lake that would meet your needs. Capitol Hill, like Queen Anne, might present a price problem, and it is notable for its gay population, but many non gays also live there and it is close to downtown.

The ideal woman can cook like Betty Crocker, handle the kids like June Cleaver, entertain guests like Queen Anne and run the bedroom like Xaviera Hollander - and I would not be ashamed to introduce her to my mother.
